First let me say what an honour it is to have been elected President of The Society for 2022-2023.
My schooling at TGS started in 1964 and I feel privileged to now be part of such an exclusive group of Old Theocsbrians. My academic record can best be described as acceptable (usually managing to finish in the top quartile each term) but it is perhaps in the world of sport where I may be remembered having achieved reasonable standards on the athletic track, cross country running and football First 1X – all at inter school level & a proud member of Clare.
This was followed by an enjoyable & successful career in finance, working for several large institutions then running my own financial advisory business for circa twenty years until I retired in January 2022.
I now spent much time walking my dog Sonny, a cocker spaniel cross. One of our favourite walks is round the perimeter of Tewkesbury Park golf course, finishing in the copse at the bottom of Lincoln Green Lane from where I can peer through the undergrowth at the Southwick Park field reminiscing, but can now only imagine running the final yards to the finishing line or putting in the final tackle to prevent a near certain goal!
